FAQs
What is an infrared sauna?
An infrared sauna uses infrared light waves to heat the body directly, rather than warming the air around you. This creates gentle, penetrating heat at lower temperatures (typically 120–160°F or 49–71°C), inducing a deep sweat and elevating heart rate similar to moderate activity, often in a more comfortable way for extended sessions.
Scientific evidence from studies and reviews (including systematic reviews and clinical trials) supports several potential benefits, though more large-scale research is needed:
• Cardiovascular health: Regular use may lower blood pressure, improve circulation, enhance vascular function, and support heart conditions like congestive heart failure (e.g., via reduced BNP levels and better ejection fraction in short-term protocols).
• Pain relief: It shows promise for reducing chronic pain, stiffness in conditions like rheumatoid arthritis, fibromyalgia, and musculoskeletal issues, with some evidence of improved outcomes in pain management.
• Muscle recovery and performance: Heat therapy aids post-exercise soreness reduction and may support neuromuscular recovery.
• Other effects: Potential improvements in endothelial function, reduced inflammation markers, and overall relaxation/stress reduction through physiological responses like increased nitric oxide.
Benefits are often comparable to mild exercise, but consult a doctor before use, especially with health conditions.
How long are sessions?
Sessions last 25, 60 or 90 minutes, depending on your choice and group size.
What is a Traditional sauna?
A traditional sauna (often called Finnish sauna) is a form of passive heat therapy involving exposure to high environmental temperatures, typically 80–100°C (176–212°F), with low humidity (10–20%) in a wooden room heated by a stove or heater, often with rocks that can be splashed with water to create brief bursts of steam. Sessions usually last 5–20 minutes, promoting intense sweating, elevated heart rate, and physiological responses akin to moderate exercise.
Scientific evidence, primarily from large prospective cohort studies (e.g., Kuopio Ischemic Heart Disease Risk Factor Study) and systematic reviews, supports several benefits of regular traditional sauna use (2–7 times/week), though more randomized trials are needed:
• Cardiovascular health: Strongly linked to reduced risk of fatal cardiovascular events, including sudden cardiac death (up to 63% lower with 4–7 sessions/week), coronary heart disease, stroke, hypertension, and overall CVD mortality. It improves endothelial function, reduces arterial stiffness, lowers blood pressure, enhances circulation, and mimics exercise-like effects on the heart and vessels.
• All-cause mortality: Associated with lower overall death risk in a dose-dependent manner.
• Other effects: Potential reductions in dementia/Alzheimer’s risk (up to 66% lower with frequent use), respiratory conditions (e.g., pneumonia, chronic lung diseases), inflammation markers, and improved mental well-being/stress reduction via autonomic and neuroendocrine changes.
These benefits stem from heat-induced vasodilation, increased nitric oxide, anti-inflammatory effects, and hormetic stress responses.
Are cold plunges private?
The Infrared Sauna room features a private Cold Plunge, whereas the Traditional Sauna room offers 2 cold plunge options that are shared and not private.
Is music available?
Yes, in the Infrared Sauna room only, Bluetooth access lets you play your favorite tunes or podcast while relaxing. A glass covered space in the sauna is available to watch your phone or iPad, keeping it cool and charging access is available as well.
Can I add salt therapy to my session?
Salt therapy is available as a $5 add-on to enhance your sauna experience for the Private Infrared Sauna Room only.
Salt therapy (halotherapy) involves inhaling fine aerosolized salt particles in a controlled environment, mimicking natural salt caves. This specific technique uses medical-grade saline solution to create a mist dispersed into your infrared sauna, allowing simultaneous heat exposure and salt inhalation for enhanced absorption and comfort.
Scientific evidence from reviews and studies (e.g., 2022 review of 13 studies, 2021 asthma metareview) suggests potential benefits as an adjuvant therapy, though more large-scale RCTs are needed:
• Respiratory health: Improves mucociliary clearance, lung function reduces airway inflammation/irritation; shows promise for asthma, COPD, chronic bronchitis, allergies, and infections via mucoactive, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial effects.
• Other effects: May enhance quality of life, reduce symptoms in respiratory conditions, and support skin issues (e.g., psoriasis, atopic dermatitis) through anti-inflammatory properties.
What Is Red Light Therapy and is it available?
Red Light Therapy is a non-invasive treatment that penetrates the skin to interact with cells, primarily stimulating mitochondria (the cell’s energy producers) to boost ATP production, reduce oxidative stress, increase nitric oxide, and trigger photochemical effects without generating heat.
Scientific evidence from clinical trials, systematic reviews, and meta-analyses supports several benefits, though more large-scale RCTs are needed for some claims:
• Skin rejuvenation and anti-aging: Increases collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid production; reduces fine lines, wrinkles, roughness, and improves complexion/texture (e.g., studies show significant collagen density gains and visible improvements in 90%+ of participants after sessions).
• Wound healing and tissue repair: Accelerates healing, promotes fibroblast activity, and supports recovery from injuries or procedures.
• Hair growth: Stimulates follicles to promote regrowth and thickness in androgenetic alopecia, with robust evidence from multiple studies.
• Pain relief and reduced inflammation: Eases chronic musculoskeletal pain, joint issues (e.g., osteoarthritis), and inflammation via anti-inflammatory effects (reviews show positive results in pain reduction).
• Other effects: May improve acne (reduces lesions), support muscle recovery, and offer promise for conditions like dementia or cognitive function, though evidence varies.
It’s generally safe with minimal side effects; consult a doctor before use, especially with photosensitive conditions.
This is my new favorite spot! I come here on a regular basis with the unlimited membership package. The staff knows me by name and I always get what I need every time, highly recommend if your looking for personal care instead of a sterile gym-like environment.
